What is a TMT Test?

A TMT Test or Treadmill Test, also known as Exercise Stress Test is performed to determine how well the patient’s heart is responding to stress. The heart rate is monitored while the patient walks on a treadmill. During the exercise, you will be connected to an electrocardiogram machine with adhesive electrodes placed on the chest.

The speed of the walk initially starts off slowly, then the speed and incline will be increased at set intervals.

With a TMT test, the doctor can detect arrythmias (that is abnormal heart rhythms) which could be due to underlying heart conditions such as coronary artery disease.
