ISCP – Proctology Conference in Kochi

Kochi: Live Operative Workshop and Fellowship Course with exam in Proctology was held in Kochi on 23rd & 24th September 2023. ISCP 2023 Kochi was jointly organized by the Department of Minimally Intensive Surgery, VPS Lakeshore Hospital & Verwandeln Institute, Kochi in association with International Society of Coloproctology and Keyhole Clinic, Kochi.

More than hundred surgeons from all across India gathered in the workshop. The event was inaugurated by Shree. S.K Abdhulla, Managing Director of VPS Lakeshore Hospital, Kochi. The meeting was presided by Dr. R Padmakumar, HOD, Dept. of Minimally Invasive Surgery, CMD Keyhole Clinic. Dr. Madhukar Pai D, Dr. Farish Shams, Dr. Shantikumar Chiviate, Dr. Prashant Rahate, Dr L D Ladukar, Dr Shanti Vardhani, and Dr Mohan Mathew addressed the gathering.
Proctology is an evolving surgical speciality which deals with diseases like hemorrhoid, fissure, fistula, pilonidal sinus, prolapse rectum, and restorative procedures in Gynecology.
These diseases are usually called hidden diseases, because these happen in the hidden region of our body. People usually hesitate to express discomfort even to their family members. The aim of this workshop is to bring to notice the need of this specialty and also to enhance the knowledge and skills of surgeons in performing safe and comfortable procedures. A lot of recent advances are happening in the last few years; like staplers, keyhole surgery, LASER, sclerotherapy, fistuloscopy, Flap Surgery and so on…
Topics regarding all these procedures were discussed and live surgical procedures were performed to enhance the knowledge of attending surgeons.
